I'm migrating our VMWare 1 server to a VMWare ESXi 3.5 machine. I've had YAFPC running on VMWare workstation and server 1 without any problem for a couple of years, moving between hosts seamlessly.
When I try converting the YAFPC appliance to work on ESX, it uploads to the ESXi server fine but doesn't boot
When I try a fresh install of either YAFPC v5 or v6, it doesn't boot (same problem).
It will install from the CD/.iso image, but after reboot the machine hangs showing a black screen with a white underscore / cursor at the top left.
If anyone has any suggestions on the solution I'd appreciate it.

Installing on ESXi 3.5 - wont boot after CD install
You need your ESX server to boot from CD even if the HDD partition is present after setup.

I had the same problem for 1 min after booting the esx mashine. I then rememberd that vmware sets the bios boot to cd first when the maskin is new. but after the disk is formated /instald it sets it to HD first.
Hit F2 butten on boot and set CD first boot in bios for the vmware maskin and it wil boot.
I dident like the ISO file monting thing so i did a full hd install bu presing H on second boot. it is working grate.
